Exploring Gesture Drawing Art Class
Instructor: Rafael Ramos
February, 2020
Figure Drawing Class with the main focus on quick poses or gesture drawing with a live model. The main goal or objective would be to help participants understand the elements of gesture drawing as a foundation for figure drawing from life, with an emphasis on finding a way to enjoy drawing short poses.
About the Instructor:
Rafael is from a family of prominent Mexican artists, including his father, Fernando Ramos Prida, and great grand-uncle, Alfredo Ramos Martinez, who founded the renowned Open Air Drawing Schools in Mexico City, where Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera and many others studied.
Continuing this passion, Rafael has studied at La Esmeralda, one of the main art schools in Mexico City and has been immersed in art making since early on. In recent years he has methodically pursued figurative art as his main form of expression. His Buddhist path informs his contemplative and essential approach. A deep appreciation for classical figure drawing and painting influences his dedication to the study of light and shadow. This, paired with his interest in the line of contemporary figurative abstraction, lends itself to intuitive, heart-centered artworks.
